Role Overview
Xlides is a post-production studio for tech companies and venture capital firms. Launch videos are some of the most important work we do: the film a startup puts out with a funding round or a new product, the one its investors, customers and future hires all watch. It goes out on the company's biggest day, so every frame has to be right.
As a Launch Video Editor, you'll take the footage, the product screens and the script and build the final film. We handle the clients, the briefs and the feedback. Your job is the edit.
The styles we make
You don't need all three. Be very good at one.
- Founder-led with motion graphics. The founder on camera, with motion graphics carrying the product.
- Pure motion graphics. No camera footage. Built entirely in After Effects.
- Continuous edit. One unbroken flow, with every shot moving into the next.
What you'll do
- Edit launch videos for startups and VC-backed companies, from first cut to final export
- Cut founder interviews and voiceover for story, so the film builds to the launch moment instead of listing features
- Design and animate motion graphics: titles, product UI, kinetic type and data
- Choose music and pace the edit to it, either setting the creative direction yourself or working within a look we've already set
- Handle the sound engineering and color so the film feels finished
- Turn around revisions quickly and hit launch dates
What we're looking for
Launch videos are the highest-stakes work we do, and we want editors who are already working at that level.
- A portfolio of launch videos, product films or motion work you've made. Send the actual work, not a general showreel.
- Real strength in at least one of the three styles above
- Confident in Premiere Pro and After Effects
- A strong story instinct. You can take a script or a founder interview and find the arc.
- Design taste. Your type, layout and motion feel premium, not templated.
- Reliable on deadlines
Nice to have
- Experience editing launch videos for startups, especially around a funding round
- 3D experience in Cinema 4D or Blender for product shots
- An interest in tech, startups or venture capital
